SURTREAT TPS II: Ionic Corrosion Inhibitor for Deep Concrete Penetration

TPS II is a surface-applied, migratory corrosion-inhibiting solution engineered for ionic penetration into chloride-contaminated concrete. It is designed to restore the electrochemical passive state of embedded rebar, reduce active corrosion, and strengthen the surrounding matrix—without destructive removal or costly cathodic systems.

WHY TPS II?

• ✅ Migrates deep into concrete pores via ionic transport—not just a surface film

• ✅ Reduces rebar corrosion rates by up to 80%, as validated by U.S. DoD Unified Facilities Guide Specification (UFGS 09 97 23.17)

• ✅ Increases compressive strength of deteriorated concrete by up to 500 psi (~3.4 MPa)

• ✅ Compatible with repair mortars, coatings, sealers, and overlays (FRP systems, silanes, membranes)

• ✅ Minimizes porosity and slows further chloride ingress

HOW IT WORKS

TPS II contains reactive ionic compounds that are actively drawn into the pore structure of the concrete where corrosion is occurring. Once in proximity to the reinforcing steel:

Chloride and moisture thresholds are neutralized

pH near the steel is restored, allowing for natural passivation

Active corrosion cells are disrupted, reducing anodic/cathodic potential

Ionic mobility is decreased, effectively extending service life

TPS II is non-toxic, VOC-compliant, and environmentally responsible—making it a preferred choice for sustainability-conscious agencies.

PROVEN PERFORMANCE:

Key Validations Include:

NASA Kennedy Space Center Corrosion Cell Study (modified ASTM G109):

TPS II achieved 60–80% corrosion rate reduction under chloride load.

10-Year NAVFAC / USACE Okinawa Data Set:

Verified long-term effectiveness in marine-exposed structures.

Tri-Service Approved for UFGS Spec 09 97 23.17:

Recognized as a qualified corrosion inhibitor coating for concrete surfaces under U.S. military infrastructure guidelines.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS:

• Coastal & Marine Structures

• Elevated Highway Decks & Piers

• Parking Structures

• Industrial Concrete Tanks & Containments

• Seaports, Airports, and Lock & Dam Facilities

• Older Foundations and Slabs Requiring Electrochemical Reset

ENGINEER’S ADVANTAGE:

• ⚙️ No need for demolition or rebar exposure

• 🔬 Works synergistically with FRP or TPS XII for dual-phase protection
