Metal Corrosion Protection. Engineered from the Interface Out.
Steel assets face demanding conditions: salt exposure, moisture, industrial contaminants and areas that are difficult to access or maintain. Protecting them requires technology matched to both the corrosion mechanism and the operating environment.
SURTREAT brings together migratory corrosion inhibitors, protective primers and durable topcoats to deliver a technically advanced approach to metal preservation.
Our technology portfolio addresses exposed structural steel and specialized applications such as tensioned cable bundles—giving owners and engineers options for different protection challenges.
Corrosion Inhibition Where It Matters
SURTREAT’s vapor-phase corrosion inhibitor (VCI) technology is designed to reach metal surfaces where protection is needed. Depending on the formulation and application, these inhibitors migrate through rust layers or within cable bundles.
This capability supports a protection strategy that combines corrosion inhibition at the metal interface with the appropriate treatment or coating system.
Advanced Technologies. Purposeful Protection.
TPS XV-DTM | Specialized cable protection. A low-viscosity, solvent-based migratory inhibitor formulated for tensioned cable bundles. Its amine-carboxylate chemistry acts at both anodic and cathodic corrosion sites, with migration into the bundle helping address surfaces beyond direct application access.
VCI Primer | Corrosion inhibition integrated into a coating. A two-component epoxy-polyamide primer combines a protective coating with VCI chemistry. It can be applied over soundly adhered rust after appropriate cleaning and removal of loose material—an important option for maintenance projects where full abrasive blasting is difficult.
Polyurethane Top Coat | Protection against environmental exposure. Applied over VCI Primer, this two-component finish adds chemical resistance, weather resistance, UV stability and abrasion protection for demanding service environments.
Performance Supported by Reported Testing
SURTREAT’s VCI Primer technical data sheet reports a 1,000-hour ASTM B117 salt-fog comparison: the primer containing the VCI addition showed 5 mm of creep and 10% rusting, compared with 10 mm of creep and 50% rusting without the addition. These laboratory results demonstrate the benefit of the inhibitor in the reported comparison; they do not establish a universal field service life.
Engineering Drives the System
SURTREAT’s strength lies in connecting corrosion chemistry with practical application requirements. Substrate condition, access, exposure, preparation and coating compatibility guide the selection of the appropriate treatment or system.
From specialized cable protection to primer-and-topcoat systems for exposed steel, SURTREAT gives engineers and asset owners a focused approach to corrosion management.
